Bharti Institute Of Professional Studies is established as a center of excellence in information technology education; through the initiative and support of some prominent citizens, industrialists and professionals and with the encouragement of the university of Ujjain.Its purpose is the training of professional managers for the corporate sector and the public systems. It is affiliated to Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, Bhopal and Vikram University, Ujjain, to impart information technology courses like as BCA, PGDCA, M.sc (CS) and Msc (IT). The courses contain current and emerging international technologies and also continuously updated, based on current demand in information technology.

The Institute’s Objectives

The Institute aims at training managers to respond competently and confidently to the economic, social, technical and organizational challenges arising from a rapidly advancing technology, a shifting economy base and a global market place; and to enhance the capabilities of organizations through research and consultancy. We strive: -

Through a three year full time BCA, a two year full time Msc (IT), M.sc (CS), and one year full time PGDCA programme in IT to educate new generations of managers, and software professionals for competence and to communicate to them the attitudes and values which elicit commitment to greater productivity, excellence in quality and innovation along with awareness of their social and ethical responsibility.
  2. Through short-term courses, C-DAC certificate and diploma courses in IT to assist professionals in industry and government to understand the changing software environment and to respond effectively to the challenges of globalised economy. In designing and offering these courses the Institute’s core faculty is supplemented by experts.
  3. By developing in Ujjain a center for research and consultancy on economic, social, technical and organizational issues, to be of service to industry and government for facilitating informed decision making and for improving performance in various areas of technology.

An Experienced and Distinguished Faculty
The Institute’s faculty are distinguished in their respective field. Of the full time faculty, mostly are MBA/MCA/M.Sc. (IT/CS)/B.E.Computer. All are excellent teachers who have mastered a variety of instructional techniques. Most have also had several years of industrial experience and served as consultants.

Learning Through Interaction with Industry
Most of the functional courses assign projects which bring the students in contact with Ujjain’s business community and give them first hand acquaintance with how industry functions, and enable them to relate what they are learning to actual practice. Guest lectures/seminars are conducted on emerging trends of IT.
The main aim behind these activities is: -

  • To provide an opportunity to students to apply classroom learning in an actual business environment.

A Personalized Curriculum
The curriculum of all the programmes broadly follows the pattern proposed by Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, Bhopal. It consists of core courses and elective courses. The CORE courses consist of the courses that comprise the common body of knowledge of information technology and compulsory for all students. The ELECTIVE courses give the student the opportunity to follow the programme of courses that will meet his or her professional needs. The student selects, in consultation with his or her faculty advisor, any of the areas or combination of areas, which will most help the student’s career plan.

Software Development Cell
The college has a software development cell. This is a easily accessible dedicated computer lab having high class computers. Students of various courses are eligible to work on these systems after passing out a test. This will empower them to seek job..

Professional Placement
BCPS offers its students valuable opportunities to help them find the right job or to have a right job find them. Throughout the two years in this Institute they will hone their own marketability – studying companies and industries, learning how to analyze their finances, their products and their markets, receiving guidance in preparing their résumés, developing good interviewing and job search techniques, gaining practical experience to interact with prospective employers through course related and summer projects. The Placement Co-ordinator provides expert guidance whenever it is needed.

Standby Power
To ensure adequate power, generator has been installed in the college as stand by. It enables the students to access computer lab, LCD, OHP facilities etc. without any hindrances.

Internet Accessibility
The college has internet connectivity to a well known ISP that provides 24 hours services. Students are encouraged to explore and learn through net in a disciplined manner.

Pedagogy
A variety of instrumental methods are followed to facilitate an integrated learning approach. The pedagogy includes lecture cum discussion, analysis and discussion of cases, seminars, self-learning, field visits, group projects, stimulation exercises and independent research. The actual mix varies with the nature of the course. Special emphasis is laid on imparting leadership and interpersonal skills to the students.See Figure 1.1
Educational Loan
The college has tied-up with the nationalized banks, to facilitate the students with study loans. This facility is specially being made available to students, who are not able to pay a large amout of fees and have a desire to acquire higher education.
